I finished reading Merlin Sheldrake’s Entangled Life yesterday, and my mind is still buzzing. I highly recommend picking this volume up, even if you don’t usually go for science books. It openned up my perspective to layers of the living world that I had never considered before.
I wonder… has any VFX environments artist written procedural lichen yet? Would the added level of biological realism be lost on viewers? With developments in fungal studies, will we see more artists in general being inspired by the possibilities they offer and creating corresponding works? If art relfects life which reflects art… could we as artists support advancements in the field via increased representation?
